Sedation Dentistry

Do you struggle to go to the dentist? Does the thought of being in a dental chair fill you with dread? Have bad experiences in the past caused you to avoid or miss recent dental appointments?

You are not alone. Millions of patients worldwide share the same fear of dental work. Fortunately, we can help.

At our practice, you don’t need to suffer in silence & neglect your oral health. We offer sedation dentistry to patients of all ages with different levels of anxiety, ranging from mild nervousness to extreme phobias. It is our belief that your comfort at the dentist is essential to maintaining your dental hygiene.

Conscious Sedation

For patients who are anxious about dental procedures, this may be a good option. Conscious sedation involves oral sedatives (pills) instead of needles & is a great option for patients who have a fear of needles & shots, had bad experiences before, have not been to the dentist in a long time or are just worried about their dental experience. Conscious sedation allows you to receive all of the dental care you need—without the fear! Our doctors are certified to provide oral sedation.

IV Sedation

If you feel uneasy in a dentist’s chair, have difficulty getting numb or fear needles & drills, then ask us about IV (intravenous) sedation dentistry. The skills & training required for performing IV sedation are quite rare in the dental field, making us part of a select group of dentists capable of administering complete relaxation for their patients.

IV sedation can also be used for patients with special needs or older patients with dementia, to whom it might otherwise be difficult to administer care. If you are the guardian or caretaker of someone who may benefit from IV sedation in order to complete needed dental care, please talk with us about this procedure.

For those with severe dental anxiety, IV sedation also has the advantage of sometimes causing an amnesiac effect, meaning that once your treatment is complete & the sedation fades, you may not remember the procedure at all.

You will need to arrange to have a friend or family member drive you home after your IV sedation dentistry appointment is over. You will likely be too groggy to safely drive a car or operate other forms of transportation (such as a motorcycle or bicycle). Once you’re home, plan to spend of the rest of the day relaxing while the sedation wears off completely.

With this extremely safe procedure, your anxiety will melt away as you enter sedation that is far deeper than when done orally. You’ll never fear a visit to the dentist again!

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a great tool for patients who may be uneasy about their dental procedures. The beauty of laughing gas is that your dentist can constantly adjust your level of sedation during the procedure & once it is shut off, the effects stop almost immediately. A few minutes after the procedure is complete, you’ll be back to normal!

our doctors is certified to administer nitrous oxide for nervous patients. Call today to schedule your appointment or to see if you’re a candidate for nitrous oxide sedation!
